Cafe Convention

Randomly opted to have dinner at Café Convention as opposed to a bistro across the street. So happy I followed my intuition. From start to finish, everything we had was delicious and the service was great - bravo! Will definitely go back again to try out their breakfast menu.

Consistently very friendly staff and an excellent location just across the street from the Line 12 Convention metro stop. They do have wifi, but it's not the sort that will help you stream a video call...more the check your email and send text messages type.

Good location for a quick lunch, they also have pizza which looked very good as well. Their specialities are moulle frites and pizza - not sure how they came about those two dishes as specialities, but they worked.

Service was good/typical, food was good quality - and served extremely quickly. A must if you are having a quick lunch on the go.

This is the worst French food experience I've ever had. It was 11pm and my friends were in town visiting, but one of their planes arrived 3 hours late so we decided to just go somewhere close. "I've never had BAD French food," I assured them. Unfortunately, I found out that bad French food does exist. :(

things we got:
- salade cantal (a lot of lettuce, two pieces of toast with cantal goat cheese, and walnuts)
- andouillettes sausage
- pavé grillé with béarnaise sauce and fries

why it was not good:
- poor service: the waiter spoke to us alternately in French, English, and Spanish, even though we didn't speak Spanish and we were speaking in French to him
- poor food: the food kind of sucked. :/ it might have just been what we got, though ...
- poor circumstances: there was a couple making out voraciously right in front of me. not exactly the best view for dinner - granted, this was not the restaurant's fault
- you have to pay .50€ to go to the bathroom - WHAT?

I'm not coming back here again. We also got charged extra for tax & tip (that has NEVER happened to me in a French restaurant). It might've just been the things we got, but honestly, I'm not interested.

This place wasn't exactly "horrible" but it was just OK. The service was a little slow for a place not so packed on a Saturday evening, and the food was meh. If it's late and there's no where else open (literally no where else), then OK, but otherwise, you can do A LOT better.
