I recently had lunch here for the first time with my husband and we had a lovely time. We went on a Saturday after visiting the Portobello Road Market. This place was perfect for a quick bite in Notting Hill.

The decor was really cute and our waitress, Nicky, was so sweet and attentive. My husband ordered the ribs and I had the chicken. Both were very good. I highly recommend this place- even though I'm a bit bias as a Ladies Of London fan :)

      Great menu options :)

I saw this place on the top 10 pubs list in London so we gave it a try. Service and ambiance were very friendly and attentive. The food was great and prices are reasonable.

Met a friend here for dinner after hearing rave reviews about the Bumpkin restaurants. The Notting Hill location was perfect since we both live within the area. The outside reminds you of a traditional pub mixed with a higher class. The inside is adorable- we had a live piano player the evening we got dinner!

Service was top-notch. Coats were taken as we got to our table. Immediate service when we needed a refill of water or wine. The fare is traditional British pub food with a twist. The evening's specials included duck, hare, and rabbit. I settled with a fillet, side of chips, and vegetables. Was shocked to receive the bone marrow on the plate as well! Besides the bone marrow which I did not eat, the food was TOP NOTCH! Excellent! My friend's dinner was a cottage pie with chips as well. She had no complaints, and she couldn't finish it all on her plate! For dessert, we both chose the tart with ice cream. The ice cream is served in a lock jar...simple presentation that went a long way.

I would recommend everyone to try out Bumpkin! Of course, it's a bit more pricier than the traditional pub, but it's worth it!

My stars...(5=epic "best of") (4=really tasty and want to go again and again) (3=good and will go back once in a while) (2=fair, might return for a visit if there was some glimmer of hope) (1=avoid at all costs)

      Go or No? Go!

Tease: Bumpkin is a farm to table casual, yet sophisticated restaurant in London

Why I went: My wife and I recalled Giada DiLaurentis mention it among places she recommend to eat at while in London on one of her shows on Food Network.

      When: Summer 2011

Food: I have a hard time remembering exactly what we had, but Shepherd's Pie was one! And it was delicious. As was everything else including drinks.

      Service: Great

Hints/Final thoughts: This is a really fun & relaxing restaurant.

101 words review: Lunch was delicious, servers were friendly. Hope to be back.

Apparently the word 'bumpkin' is now sufficiently entrenched in the collective conscience for the 'country' part to be omitted completely. When this happened exactly I don't know but this restaurant is all about the bumpkin - it's a little urban homage to the gently cultured and utterly inoffensive English countryside. It's a big place, there are 4 floors, each with the same ethos but each with a slightly different purpose. There is the brassiere downstairs where you can only hope and not book, the restaurant upstairs where you can only book, the private rooms for naked dinner parties (this may not be strictly allowed) and the attic bar area at the very top.

When I went here we didn't book and so had to wait for a table in the attic upstairs for about 40 minutes or so on Saturday night before taking a seat downstairs in the brassiere. It's a great little room and I believe you can hire it out for poker games or anything you want. Actually up here probably exemplifies best the rustic country charm and everything has a nice lived-in feel. The food we had was decent - I had the beef and ale pie and it was nice and everything but didn't quite achieve that homemade feel I was hoping for. Slightly disappointing but I'd be more than happy to give the restaurant a try and see how that fares.

I really was anti-this restaurant from the get go but I have to say the food surprised me on the upside. The macaroni and cheese was exactly how I like it - not too cheesy, not at all soupy, nice crustiness on top. The summer bean salad was great, the roast chicken legs were tasty as well, and all the prices were (beyond) surprisingly reasonable. Our bill for 10 people including lots of wine was about 60 pounds a person.

Service wasn't exactly up to snuff for this American Yelper, but they were kind enough to put up with our loud group antics. I'd recommend this place overall - it has a fun atmosphere and crazy amounts of different levels and rooms to fit all your tastes.

Yes. Ok. Good food, nothing stellar, great service and great location. The food... yeah, nothing stellar.
We had a steak cut and some veggie starters and a fish pie. It was all above average, but definitely not worth the price

This five star review is only for brunch. It's more of a 3-4 star dinner place but Saturday brunch here was A+++.

I had the full English breakfast, which was just the right amount of greasy (many three-part novels can be written about the delicate balance between greasy-delicious and greasy-I-want-to-die) as well as a bloody mary that was just the right amount of spicy (read: very spicy).

The decor and atmosphere were pleasant (as always) and the glimpse of the overcast sky (as per usual) through the tall windows provided just the right lighting for the many pictures that I may or may not have taken.

Also, Bumpkin is just close enough to Portobello Road that a marvelous way to spend the rest of the day is a short walk away. Antique-ing is best done when mildly intoxicated.

We arrived at Lucky 7, ready to gobble up a nice greasy American diner breakfast. Sadly, there was a queue, and I was too hungry to wait. As a result, we stepped into a somewhat quiet Bumpkin instead.

The decor and the theme of the menu is English country. The place has a very homey, and spacey feel to it. I sat down, ready to eat, but slightly disappointed that the most appetizing thing on the brunch menu was an English breakfast. Bah... I've definitely had my share of bland, English-style breakfast since moving to this country.

I was in for a shock. Bumpkin has figured out what many English restaurants have not---if you're going to cook bland English food, by jove you MUST use fresh ingredients. I have never had such a delicious English breakfast in my life! The tomatoes and mushrooms tasted so fresh, I could just imagine the chef plucking them from the secret garden in the back. The tomatoes, oooh the tomatoes were especially sweet and juicy...my god, they were good tomatoes. The toast was thick cut and clearly from a freshly baked loaf. It was all so delectable, and gobble gobble gobble...gone in 60 seconds!

Service was very good, and overall, I had a very pleasant breakfast at Bumpkin. I will definitely be back, and never will I have English breakfast anywhere else again, except for at Bumpkin.
