Bodega, a Spanish tapas restaurant located in Heidelberg, Germany, was a pleasant surprise during my trip to the country. I came here to go to Hockenheim, and have some great German food and somehow ended up at a phenomenal Spanish tapas restaurant.

Despite its hard-to-find location, the warm greeting upon arrival made me feel instantly at ease. English menus were provided once the waiter realized our limited knowledge of German, which was much appreciated.

The menu consisted of a variety of tapas and main dishes, and I opted for the former. The tapas were phenomenal - from the artichokes to the seafood salad, everything was cooked to perfection. I particularly enjoyed the grilled squid dish, which was surprisingly fresh and well-cooked. My friend had the seafood special for two, which featured several types of fish, shrimps, mussels, and squid, all of which were cooked nicely.

We also shared the tapas plate special for two, which had a fair selection of dishes, but was mainly served as an appetizer. The portion size per person was not very big, but the quality and taste more than made up for it. The restaurant also offered a huge bowl of salad for us to share with our entrees, which was a nice touch for family-style dining.

Although we were too full to try the desserts, we did order a flan and crema catalana with a sweet sherry, which were decent but had room for improvement. Overall, the meal was a bit on the pricier side, but worth it for a special occasion.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a decor that transported me straight to Spain. The service was also exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure we had a great dining experience.

In conclusion, Bodega is a hidden gem in Heidelberg, offering delicious tapas and main dishes that will satisfy any craving for Spanish cuisine. With its warm atmosphere, excellent service, and high-quality food, it's definitely a restaurant worth visiting for a special occasion or a night out with friends.

What a great find! Last thing I expected was really good Spanish food in Heidelberg, but we found it here after seeing other Yelp reviews.

One note of warning: Google Maps driving directions from weststadt tried to send me down a stretch of Panoramastraße that had 2 poles in the middle of the road to make it pedestrian-only...

Anyways. Finally got to Bodega to be greeted warmly, English menus provided once the waiter picked up that our German was less than ideal. I pondered switching over to speaking Spanish, but didn't want to confuse things any more. Had some nice German wine and a collection of tapas - everything was excellent. Didn't get to the main plates (I'm a sucker for tapas) so I can't comment on the offerings there. Dessert (I'm a sucker for that, too) was good - we got a flan and crema catalaña with a sweet sherry. Desserts were decent, but had room for improvement.

Would happily go back and recommend this to anybody looking for a change from the great German food in town.

The rinderfilet is to die for. Very soft and filling. The service is friendly and personal. The special appetizer from the kitchen is a nice touch. Definitely a place to go. Would go there again tonight, but they are totally booked. Perhaps next time. Reservations are pretty much a must... they are in high demand.

A rustic Spanish restaurant situated away from the center of Heidelberg, Bodega is a great gem. We came as a group of 10, so needless to say, reservation was needed (highly recommended even if you are in a group of 2). Service was great as we had at least 2 servers catering to our needs.

We shared the tapas plate special for 2, and we like it a lot. A fair selection (consisting of artichokes, sardines, olives, seafood salad--love that!, etc), but be aware that it serves mostly as an appetizer as the portion per person was not so big. I had the "Sepia a la Plancha" (grilled squid), and to my surprise (usually I am skeptical about seafood quality in southern Germany), it was fresh and cooked nicely. My friend got the seafood special for 2 (consisting of several types of fish, shrimps, mussels, squid), and they also thought it was cooked nicely. Since our main dishes all come with salad, the servers just brought a huge bowl of salad for us to share. I'm a fan of family-styled dining, so that was a plus for me. Portions for the entree were big, so we had no room left for dessert (sigh...).

The meal was on a pricier end, but for a special occasion, one cannot go wrong with Bodega.

Tip: If you want to try their Paellas, you would need to make the order much earlier (either a day before or when they open for the day).

This one was highly recommended, so we had reservations a few weeks early. Nonetheless it was full when we came and we had to wait. The restaurant is not large, so they offered us a place either in the middle of the room, or by the kitchen and toilett entrances. That didnt impress.

The food was good - wide variety of Spanish dishes and good wines. Overall, the ambiente didnt strike us as great. This was too bad since the food would make us came back here again.

This is the best restaurant I that I have ever gone in Heidelberg. The service was awsome especially because they speak Spanish. It was just great. It seems to be like a hidden little treasure. I cant wait to go there again and try their paella. Everything was just great. Its a must go.

This is a great Spanish restaurant! I would say the best in town. Every dish I ever ordered was exquisitely prepared and they have a great wine selection. It can get very busy though, so getting a table can prove difficult.

Great find in Heidelberg (Rohrbach...side street, hidden away). Went here based on the reviews on Qype and because of positive feedback from friends in the HD area. Met with an old business acquaintance who also hadn't been here yet. They have awesome tapas (we had the tortillas, olives, chorizo, aioli, and sardines) and the main courses are great (I had the gambas). The service was super nice and I really liked the ambiance of the place. One major drawback is the parking problems in the area but they can't do much about this. They have four spots in the "Innenhof" but these are gone quickly. Next time I am in HD again, I am here for dinner. This is a place I can recommend "blind" to anyone in the area and looking for a great spanish restaurant to visit. Remember to reserve a table as this place remains super popular and is no longer and insider tip.
